Winternursery is an activity that really can make good use of the double hemisphere advantages. It allows the breeders to produce two generations in one year and consecuently get new hybrids/varities into the market in a fast and effient timing. CIS Semillas has an experienced team with expertise in corn, sunflower, canola, soybean and flax. We have been working, from the early years of the company, with breeders from Canada, America, Europe and Australia.
Our Research Department is a completely independent unit with its staff, machinery and specialized equipment. Research Services - * Nursery, includes hand crosses, selfings and observations.
- * Seed Increases, with hand pollination of small seed stocks in order to increase a specific line or produce pilot hybrids.
- * Parent Trials, of lines to check seed production standards.
- * Yield Trials, meant to get information of potential yield and behaviour patterns of hybrids or varieties.
- * Production under Tents, of canola and/or sunflower with use of insects for the corresponding pollination.
- * Top Cross productions which are isolations with a common male and multiple females.
- * Purity Test, where we plant different lots or calibrations to analyze the phenotype with the expected genotype.
